The short version
Pouched has no accounts. Your tracking data is stored on your phone. We use no advertising or analytics SDKs and we never sell your data. Data leaves your phone only to process purchases and, if you use it, to answer your questions in the Ask Pouched AI coach.
This policy explains what the Pouched mobile app (“Pouched”, “we”, “us”) does with your information. It applies to the Android and iOS apps and to this website.
1. Data stored on your device
Everything you enter to track your habit is saved in the app's private storage on your phone:
- Your setup: pouches per day, can price, pouches per can, nicotine strength, quit goal, pace, reasons and triggers.
- Your logs: pouch, craving, slip and substitute entries with their times.
- Check-ins, mood ratings, notes, pledges, savings goals and achievements.
- Settings, such as reminder times and whether the app lock is on.
We can't see this data. It isn't sent to us, and it isn't backed up to our servers. If you use Export a backup, the app creates a file and hands it to your phone's share sheet. Where that file goes is up to you.
2. Ask Pouched (AI coach)
Ask Pouched is an optional Pro feature. When you send a message, the app sends the following to our server function, which is hosted on Supabase:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your recent messages in the current conversation | To answer your question in context |
| A short progress summary: plan day and pace, goal, today's count and limit, baseline and target, days within limit, pouch-free days, money saved, this week's total, your peak craving hour and hardest day, recent mood ratings and badge count | So the answer reflects your actual situation |
| Your anonymous RevenueCat app user ID | To confirm you have an active Pro subscription and to apply fair-use limits |
Our server checks your subscription with RevenueCat and passes your messages and progress summary to an AI model provider to write the reply. We use Google (Gemini API), with Anthropic and OpenAI as backups if it's unavailable. Your name, email address, contacts and location are never sent, because Pouched doesn't collect them.
We don't store your chat messages. We keep only a counter of how many messages each anonymous ID sent per day, which enforces usage limits. The AI providers process requests under their API terms and may keep them for a limited time for abuse monitoring. They don't use them to train their models under those terms.
The first time you open Ask Pouched, the app asks you to agree to this before anything is sent. If you don't use Ask Pouched, none of this data leaves your phone.
3. Purchases and subscriptions
Payments are handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to check which purchases are active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase receipts and history, and basic device information such as platform, app version and country. It does not receive your tracking data.
4. Other features
- Reminders are scheduled on your phone as local notifications. We don't use push-notification servers or collect push tokens.
- App lock uses your phone's built-in Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint and face unlock. Biometric data never leaves the operating system, and Pouched never receives it.
- Sharing a progress card or report uses your phone's share sheet. Nothing is shared unless you choose to.
5. Service providers
| Provider | Purpose | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Apple App Store / Google Play | App distribution and payments | Purchase and payment data under their own policies |
| RevenueCat | Subscription status | Anonymous app user ID, receipts, device basics |
| Supabase | Hosts the Ask Pouched server function | Ask Pouched requests in transit, and daily message counts |
| Google, Anthropic, OpenAI | Generate Ask Pouched replies | Messages and progress summary |
We don't sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
6. Retention and deletion
- Data on your device stays until you delete it. Use Settings → Your data → Reset everything, or uninstall the app.
- Daily AI usage counters are kept only to enforce limits. You can ask us to delete them.
- Purchase records are kept by Apple or Google and RevenueCat as needed for billing and legal obligations.
See Delete your data for step-by-step instructions.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the EU and UK under GDPR and California under the CCPA/CPRA, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export personal data we hold, and object to or restrict its processing. Because we don't run accounts, we hold very little about you. Email us and we'll help, including with any data held by our providers. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Legal bases (GDPR): performance of a contract (providing the app and Pro features you buy) and your consent (Ask Pouched).
8. Age
Pouched is about nicotine use and is rated 17+. It is not intended for children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 17. If you believe a child has used Ask Pouched, contact us and we'll delete the related usage counter.
9. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, such as sending new kinds of data off your device, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
10. Contact
Email contact@ashbuild.app with any privacy question or request.
We usually reply within two business days.
